Moyes did what we wanted him to do, and results at weekend were kind.

We will arrive with rested, respected and feared players a goal to the good and with options on the bench, not looking over our shoulder at the premiership.

PROVIDING we play our 'Gent game' we need not be fearful or pessimistic.

I think it will be tight to start with, they will know if they concede early it's game over and we are better on the counter attack. As long as it remains one nil they will think they are still in the game, plus Moyes' cautious approach won't see us taking it to them. If they score early, there will be a look of utter panic on Moyes's face as he won't have a fucking clue what to do!

West Ham have an incredible habit of being disappointing just when you need them to step up but hearing Antonio’s interview yesterday makes me believe everyone at the club really wants this so lets hope it translates into a performance.

From Alkmaar's actual football performance last week I cannot see any way that they beat us. Not any way. They're simply not good enough.

If we go at them, with our top team, we win. Easily.

But - if Moyes gets us us to gutlessly sit back and defend the lead, our players will start to bottle it and if they score we're fucked.

Because Moyes has, and never has had, any fucking idea how to change things mid game.

I absolutely despise that wanker and what he's doing to our club.

I’m with you Yarmouth… it will be a massive upset if we don’t get through to the final

We need to score early but that depends upon moyes, will it be the usual play safe or will he actually show some b#lls!

What Antonio interview yesterday?

Is he likely to be fit for the match?

Really hope they’re all crocked or knackered but I can see why AZ played their first team last night, Technically with two games left after today they could catch PSV who are currently in the second of the two Champions League places available to Dutch teams. PSV have already won the Dutch cup which qualifies the winners for the Europa League, so AZ are currently in the Europa League spot. Obviously if they win the European conference league they’d qualify for the Europa League. They’re in the conference league next year even if they end up fourth. Think that’s all correct! Also think they may be feeling they’re unlikely to win on Thursday. They got really tired after about the seventieth minute last time round. Just wish we could have forced a third goal. Think we’ll be fine though. Just about.

Our goal lead should be enough to tip the game in our favour because they need to score. It may be cagey for half an hour but then their instinct will open them up and stretch the game. That's when we need to take advantage.

What will demonstrate if our players have the bollocks to win this thing will be if they score early how we react.

I think we'll be ok and will score a couple on the break. But you never know, especially with the standard of refereeing we are seeing at the moment. Once stupid cunt of a ref can fuck your whole season.

Yup- I thought Gent were better in both the games we played against them than Alkmaar were on Thursday.

We were pretty crap but they didn't look like scoring in the slightest. Even their actual goal was speculative at best and all our own doing.

They were fairly pony at our place. knocked it around in the middle of the park neatly enough but had next to no threat. gave us half a dozen chances early doors trying to pass it out from the back too.

you have to think they'll have more about them at home. think they'll have a couple of their better players back too. i wouldn't feel confident if the 2-1 actually reflected the game on thursday, but even though we only played about half an hour of football we should've been at least two goals up.

fortunately our one goal buffer gives us a wake up call if we need it. this team time and again seems to need something to shake us out of our plan A before we really start to show our quality. sometimes it's a goal against us, sometimes it's a goal for us (usually out of nothing).

even after watching AZ last week i don't have much of an idea what they're capable of.

It's far from over.

We bottled it. Could and should have scored 3 or 4.
After last season's disappointment and our improving form of late I was expecting a much better performance and result.
There was no hunger, we looked leggy and our final ball and decision making was poor.
Now they will be encouraged as they have a good chance,.
Not confident at all.

Re: ⚽ AZ Akmaar v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
It was a tired performance. The rest most of them got yesterday was vital.

No fucking idea why he threw Rice and Benny on and latterly Bowen when it was clear the game was already over.

Re: ⚽ AZ Akmaar v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Tiredness shouldn't be a factor in a massive game. Passion, desire and adrenaline should be enough motivation, plus the chance of a bit of redemption for last year's surrender.
They looked like they were playing a pre season friendly.

Shocking performance!

I think we clearly have the better players . And under any other manager I'd be exceptionally confident . But Moyes frightens the life out of me with his tactics. While we shouldn't be gung ho . I don't want to see us set up to defend on the edge of our box either. Which he's done far too often this season. as it clearly doesn't suit our players .
